Chettinad Mushroom Gravy


INGREDIENTS

Chettinad Mushroom Gravy200 Gms – Mushrooms
2 tsp – Tamarind Paste
2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
2 tsp – Channa Dal
5 – Dry Red Chillies

2 tsp – Pepper
2 tsp – Coriander Leaves
2 tsp – Oil
Salt to taste
Few Curry Leaves


METHOD

Chettinad Mushroom Gravy
1.Wash, pat dry and chop mushrooms into small pieces and keep them aside.
2.Dry roast channa dal, dry red chillies and peppercorns in a low medium flame till dal turns golden brown.
3.Cool and grind them to smooth powder and keep aside.

4.Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
5.When they start to pop and splutter, add curry leaves and few seconds.
6.Now mix in chopped mushrooms and medium heat.
7.When they start to sweat add salt to taste, ground spice powder and mix well.

8.Saute gently on a medium flame for 1-2 minutes making sure that spice mixture doesn’t stick to bottom of the pan.
9.Add tamarind paste and sprinkle little water if necessary and mix well.
10.Cook for another minute or so on medium flame sauteing in between.
11.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with Chapatti.
